COMMUNITY COURAGE COMPASSION COMPETENCE

Parent and Family Partnerships at Newbridge

At Newbridge Learning Community, we believe that parents and carers are vital partners in every child’s journey. We are committed to creating a welcoming, supportive environment where families feel valued, involved, and informed.

Building a Strong School Community

Our Parent and Family Partnership (PFP) team works closely with families to offer a range of shared experiences that help strengthen the home–school link and celebrate your child’s achievements. Throughout the year, parents and carers will be invited to join us for events such as:

  • Coffee mornings
  • Christmas performances to see your child act and sing
  • Sports Day – watch your child compete in solo and team events
  • Christmas bingo and other social events
  • Internet safety and mindfulness workshops
  • Parent craft days
  • Football matches – cheer your child on in the school league
  • Transition mornings for new Year 7 pupils and their families
  • Parents’ evenings and Options evenings, with AP providers attending to present further pathways
  • Annual Reviews and Awards Presentations – celebrate progress and success
  • We also host drop-in sessions and support events to empower parents and offer practical advice:
  • ADHD Nurse drop-in sessions – support around behaviour, sleep, and strategies
  • SEND support information – including a representative to explain the Local Offer

Supporting Home Learning

We know that small routines at home make a big difference. To support your child’s progress:

  • Parents can request reading books, and we recommend reading “little and often” – 10 minutes a day
  • Your child’s PFP Key Worker is your first point of contact and will work with you to ensure you’re always in the loop

Uniform Expectations – A reminder for Parents and Carers

Our new updated school uniform reflects the views and voices of our students. Following close consultation, pupils shared that they wanted a more modern secondary school identity – one that reflects their pride in being part of Newbridge.

After a vote, pupils chose a modern, mature logo and school design that gives a smart, cohesive look across the school community. As part of the new uniform, we’re also proud to introduce our Newbridge  PE kit that pupils helped design – something they can wear with confidence, comfort and pride during PE lessons and sports activities.

At Newbridge Learning Community, we believe that wearing school uniform with pride plays a key role in building a strong sense of identity, community and belonging. As we approach the new term, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring that all students return in full, correct uniform.

Uniform also helps prepare our young people for the expectations of the wider world, including the workplace. We understand there can sometimes be confusion over what is acceptable, so we hope this overview helps clarify our expectations.

You can view the full Uniform Policy on our website, but please see the key points below for guidance:

Uniform Guidelines

  • Trousers: Plain black school trousers only
  • Skirts: Plain black skirt – to be worn no shorter than one inch above the knee
  • Socks: Black or white only
  • Hair: Should be a natural colour and not extreme in style. No tramlines, patterns, or shaved heads below a number two cut.

Footwear – Please Note

We’ve noticed a range of footwear being worn recently, and we want to ensure expectations are clear going forward:

  • Permitted: All-black or mostly black trainers/shoes with grey trim only
  • Not Permitted: Any shoes or trainers with white or coloured trims (other than grey), or fully coloured trainers

Uniform Checks

To ensure consistency and support for all students, we conduct daily uniform checks . If a student arrives in incorrect uniform, we will contact home and ask that they return with the correct item.

Please help us avoid unnecessary disruption to your child’s day by checking their uniform before they leave for school.

If you are unsure about any item of uniform, we strongly recommend checking with the school before making a purchase. If there are any financial or personal circumstances that make it difficult to meet these expectations, please contact your child’s keyworker or the school office on 01942 369770 – we are here to help.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Working in partnership, we can ensure every student feels part of our community and ready to learn.

Communication and Involvement

We encourage regular communication. Whether it’s a quick chat, a meeting, or an email, all contact is valuable in helping your child succeed. You are welcome to reach out to us or visit school whenever there’s a need.

Together, we can create the best possible environment for your child to thrive, both emotionally and academically.
