Safeguarding at Newbridge Learning Community
At Newbridge Learning Community, safeguarding and wellbeing are central to everything we do. As a specialist SEMH secondary school, we recognise the unique challenges our students may face, and we are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and understanding environment where every young person can grow, learn, and feel valued.
Safeguarding at our school is led by Dawn Robson and Cath Bessell, who work in close partnership to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of our students is always the top priority.
Dawn and Cath jointly lead on all aspects of safeguarding and child protection as our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSL, and their collaborative approach ensures consistent, responsive support for both students and families. They are experienced, compassionate professionals who understand the importance of trust, communication, and early intervention in keeping children safe.
Whether it’s offering a listening ear, supporting a family in need, or working with external agencies, Dawn and Cath are here to help — always approachable, always putting our students’ needs first.
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a student, please don’t hesitate to contact Dawn or Cath via the school office.
Together, we are committed to keeping children safe and promoting positive emotional and mental health across our school community.
