COMMUNITY COURAGE COMPASSION COMPETENCE

Our Achievements

At Newbridge Learning Community, we are proud to hold a number of nationally recognised awards that reflect our commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, academic progress, and family partnerships. Each achievement represents the dedication of our staff, pupils, and wider school community in creating a nurturing and high-quality learning environment.

Dyslexia Friendly School Award

Awarded: Re-verified May 2019
We are proud to be recognised as a Dyslexia Friendly School, a quality mark awarded only to schools that meet rigorous national standards in supporting pupils with dyslexic difficulties. This award recognises our whole-school approach to inclusive teaching — using multi-sensory strategies that benefit all learners, not just those with dyslexia.
Our aim is to take the fear out of learning by ensuring all pupils feel understood, supported, and capable of success.

Mental Health Gold Award Accreditation

One of only 9 schools in the borough to achieve this status
At Newbridge, we believe mental health matters just as much as physical health. That’s why we are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Gold Standard for Mental Health and Wellbeing. This award recognises our commitment to creating a mentally healthy school, where resilience, emotional regulation and psychological safety are embedded into everyday practice for both pupils and staff.

Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)

Achieved: 2015, Reassessed: 2019
We understand the vital role that parents and carers play in a child’s success. The LPPA award reflects our ongoing commitment to working in genuine partnership with families. The award report praised our personalised approach, strong communication and meaningful engagement with parents to support pupils both academically and emotionally. At Newbridge, families are at the heart of everything we do.

Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award

Achieved: November 2018
We are proud to have achieved the Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award, which recognises the exceptional training, development, and support provided to our TAs. Our teaching assistants play a critical role in enabling pupils with SEMH needs to thrive. This award demonstrates that our school values their work, invests in their growth, and ensures they make a powerful impact on pupil outcomes.

 Artsmark Gold Award

Achieved: 2017 – Ongoing participant in Artsmark programme
Creativity is a key part of learning and wellbeing at Newbridge. We were honoured to receive the Artsmark Gold Award, accredited by Arts Council England, for our commitment to delivering high-quality arts and cultural education. The award recognises how we embed arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum to strengthen pupil voice, self-expression, and emotional wellbeing.

Why These Awards Matter

Each award reflects a core part of our ethos:

  • Inclusion: We meet the diverse needs of every pupil.
  • Wellbeing: We prioritise emotional health and resilience.
  • Family Partnership: We work hand-in-hand with parents and carers.
  • High-Quality Support: We invest in our staff to ensure the best for our pupils.
  • Creativity and Culture: We celebrate the arts as a way to engage, empower and enrich.

Our Commitment to Wellbeing

At Newbridge Learning Community, we are proud to be working towards the Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS) a nationally recognised framework that places mental health and emotional wellbeing at the heart of school life.

This award supports us to:

  • Create a whole-school culture of wellbeing for pupils and staff
  • Strengthen our SEMH provision through evidence-based practice
  • Review and develop our policies, training, and support systems
  • Ensure pupil voice, staff wellbeing, and community engagement are central to our approach

As a specialist SEMH setting, wellbeing is already a key part of what we do. This award helps us take that even further — ensuring every member of our community feels supported, understood, and empowered to thrive.

We look forward to sharing our progress and continuing to build a safe, inclusive, and emotionally healthy
