Exam and Access Arrangements

At Newbridge Learning Community, we are committed to ensuring that all our pupils are given the opportunity to succeed in their exams and demonstrate their true potential. We follow the guidance set out by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and provide appropriate access arrangements for learners with SEMH needs and other barriers to learning.

Supporting Our Learners

We understand that exams can be a challenging time, particularly for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and so ee work closely with staff, families, and external professionals to identify needs early and apply for access arrangements that are:

  • Fair
  • Evidence-based
  • In line with JCQ regulations
Examples of Access Arrangements We Offer:
  • Extra time
  • Use of a reader or reading software
  • Scribes
  • Rest breaks
  • Separate or own room to reduce anxiety and support focus
  • Prompters or practical support, where needed

These arrangements are about removing barriers so that every learner can engage with exams in a way that reflects their ability.

Our Goal

At Newbridge L.C. our goal is to support pupils through the exam process and help them take the next step in their education journey. We believe that with the right support in place, all students can achieve qualifications that reflect their huge potential and move confidently into college, training or employment.
