National School Breakfast Programme at Newbridge Learning Community
At Newbridge Learning Community, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start to their day. That’s why we’re proud to be part of the National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP)—a nationwide initiative funded by the Department for Education and delivered by Family Action, aimed at ensuring no child begins the school day hungry.
Why Breakfast Matters
A calm, welcoming environment paired with a nutritious breakfast helps set the tone for emotional regulation, positive relationships, and readiness to learn. Studies show that children who eat breakfast are more focused, more settled, and better equipped to engage with their education.
When and Where
We offer breakfast every school day from 8:30am to 9:00am, served in the school kitchen. Pupils are welcomed into a relaxed and supportive space where they can enjoy a healthy meal and connect with staff and peers before lessons begin.
What’s on the Menu?
Thanks to the NSBP, we’re able to provide free, nutritious breakfasts to all our students. Options include:
- Wholegrain cereals
- Toast and spreads
- Bagels
- Fresh fruit
Our breakfast is designed to be simple, healthy, and energising—giving pupils the fuel they need to thrive.
More Than Just a Meal
Breakfast at Newbridge is about more than food. It’s about routine, relationships, and reassurance. For many of our students, it’s the first positive interaction of the day—a chance to feel grounded, supported, and part of the school community.
